Security Operations teams face a daunting daily challenge: find evidence of attackers in their networks and respond quickly and effectively to them. We are looking for a Lead Product Manager to shape the direction of InsightIDR’s detection capabilities. You will have the opportunity to work with a full-time detection engineering team and experienced security analysts from our world-class Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service. Together you will deliver product that solves customer problems for managing a large library of detection rules, keeping those detection rules properly tuned and up-to-date, collecting and using threat intelligence, triaging alerts at scale based on these detection rules using data-driven methods, and more.
In addition to product contributions, we are looking for someone who seeks to be on a growth path to product leadership. This role will give you the opportunity to get started on that journey. You will manage two to three Boston-based product managers who need guidance and coaching as they develop in their careers. Over time, the role will have the opportunity to grow into Manager, Sr. Manager, and Director roles.
This role is Boston-based so that the product manager may establish strong relationships with our Boston-based engineering and PM teams. We have flexible schedules and currently encourage, but do not require, being in the office three days a week.
About the Team
Our dedicated, global, Detection and Response Product Manager team is responsible for the direction of Rapid7’s InsightIDR product. The team is a mix of product and cyber security industry veterans, mid-career professionals, and early-career up-and-comers each contributing their diverse skills and perspectives to our product mission. Our team tackles product opportunities in a highly-collaborative fashion. You will have access to our product leadership to receive their input and advice on your product ideas. You will also work daily with designers and engineers to develop the product. Our product managers bring a deep understanding of our customers, our stakeholders, and our business in each of these team settings, and help the team discover and build high-value solutions that are viable for our business.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
Talk with CISOs, security operations team managers, security analysts, threat intelligence specialists, detection engineers, and other security professionals to discover solutions that will solve their problems detecting malicious activity in their environments
Build a data-driven, outcomes-focused, roadmap for InsightIDR’s detection capabilities
Collaborate with experienced UX product designers; front-end/back-end engineering SCRUM teams; MDR SOC leaders; business stakeholders; and product leadership to deliver impactful detection capabilities for InsightIDR
Manage the entire product lifecycle from problem statement, to solution discovery, to delivery execution, to launch marketing and communications, to post-launch support and feedback analysis
Analyze market, product, and user data for insights
Coach and conduct performance management tasks for two to three product managers
Work with teams across multiple time zones (mostly US East Coast and Ireland)
Occasionally travel to other Rapid7 offices for workshops and team meet-ups.
The skills you’ll bring include:
Experience with product discovery techniques to arrive at solutions that solve customer problems
An ability to develop deep product knowledge for the products you manage
Experience communicating effectively to engineers, designers, customers, stakeholders, product leadership in both written and verbal forms using a variety of mediums including Slack, Zoom meetings, Google Slide presentations, wiki documents, and more.
Comfort with or ability to learn quickly product collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence, Miro, and Figma.
Comfort with or ability to learn quickly product data analysis tools including Pendo, Graphana, Amplitude, Tableau.
An ability to understand and discuss cloud API-based, microservice product architectures and various database and storage technologies that support them
A demonstrated ability to work in an organized and truly collaborative fashion with your product peers (UX, engineering) throughout the product life cycle
Excellent people skills with an ability to navigate challenging personalities, resolve conflicts, and a knack for helping others be successful
