As a  Manager, Detection and Response within Rapid7’s Managed Detection and Response (MDR) team, you’ll lead a talented group of analysts who detect, investigate, and respond to real-world cyber threats in real time. You’ll guide and support your team in a 24x7 environment, driving operational excellence, analyst growth, and customer success. This role is ideal for a dynamic leader passionate about empowering teams, tackling evolving adversaries, and delivering exceptional threat detection and incident response outcomes.

About the team

Rapid7’s MDR team monitors customer environments 24x7 to detect and respond to potential security threats. The team investigates alerts, manages incidents, and helps customers contain and remediate attacks. They work closely with clients to improve detection capabilities, strengthen defenses, and build long-term resilience against evolving threats.

About the role 

As a Manager, Detection and Response, your primary responsibility will be to (Insert high level role expectation). Specifically, your focus will be to: 

  • Serve as a front line Security Operations Centre Manager for a group of Analysts at the EMEA, SOC.

  • Provide guidance, goals, and assistance to a team of world-class analysts in a 24x7 setting.

  • Maintain scheduling and shifts to ensure 24x7x365 coverage.

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to facilitate positive outcomes for internal and external customers.

  • Assist in the development of analyst-enablement programs to promote career and capability growth for analysts.

  • Collaborate with MDR customers and Customer Advisors to balance customer requests with analyst operations.

  • Serve as an escalation point for your team members and internal Rapid7 customers.

  • Represent the MDR SOC in customer engagements.

  • Serve as an Incident Manager as needed, leading the response to high impact, high severity security incidents for our customers.

  • Promote healthy, positive work habits and environments to reduce analyst fatigue and increase collaboration between analyst teams and locations.

  • Develop, evaluate and analyse metrics to drive efficiencies and accountability.

The skills you will bring include: 

  • At least 2 years of management or team lead experience, ideally within a SOC, CIRT, or related security environment.

  • Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools, monitoring systems, OR incident response processes.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), with the ability to anticipate and defend against emerging threats.

  • Strong decision-making skills, able to quickly resolve challenges and maintain momentum in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, with confidence presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • The ability to think big and act small, breaking large goals into clear, achievable steps with measurable results.

  • A positive, forward-focused mindset, eager to understand the “why” behind changes and actively drive them forward.

  • A talent for building collaboration and trust, even during difficult or sensitive conversations.

  • Experience working across teams and regions, building partnerships that create sustainable improvements and customer value.
