  • R10689
  • Prague, Czechia

We are looking for an experienced leader to take on a unique and high-impact role: guiding our Threat Intelligence engineering teams while also serving as the Site Leader for our Prague office. In this position, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the technical strategy for a core product and foster the culture, growth, and success of our local site. This is a rare chance to combine product leadership with site-wide influence - driving innovation while inspiring and supporting our people.

About the Team
Our development teams are at the heart of the Cyber Intelligence product, driving its evolution. They are responsible for pioneering new intelligence features, enhancing existing services, and continuously optimising our technical framework to propel the product forward.

Composed of highly skilled, multi-disciplinary developers (Back-End, Front-End, Automation, AI), our teams directly influence customer experience. They are deeply involved in every phase of product planning, ensuring their expertise shapes its direction.

About the Role

We're looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to take on a unique dual role: guiding our Threat Intelligence engineering teams based in Prague while also serving as the Site Leader for our vibrant Prague office.

You'll be the driving force behind our technical strategy and the champion of our local culture, making a significant impact on both our products and our people.

As a Senior Director of Engineering & Site Lead, your primary responsibility will be to drive both the global Threat Intelligence engineering strategy and the success of our Prague office. Specifically, your focus will be to:

Engineering Leadership (Threat Intelligence)

  • Technical Leadership: As a key member of Threat Intelligence's leadership, you will be instrumental in guiding strategic technical decisions, developing comprehensive roadmaps, and managing stakeholder relationships effectively.

  • Dynamic Environment: Operating within a highly dynamic environment necessitates flexibility, rapid adaptation, with a continuous commitment to learning and skill development.

  • Engineering Excellence: Set the bar for operational excellence in engineering, driving resilience, performance, and quality initiatives across the organisation.

  • Partnerships: Cultivate strong partnerships with Product Management, User Experience, and other critical stakeholders to collaboratively define strategy, formulate execution plans, and ensure adherence to roadmap commitments.

  • Strategy: Develop and maintain technical strategy, ensuring high-fidelity commitments and standards for delivery.

  • Scalability: Ensure scalable development, testing, and deployment processes to improve reliability, scalability, and performance.

  • Customer Engagement: Engage directly with customers to incorporate feedback and remove points of friction in their product experience.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with support and cross-functional teams to ensure customers have a seamless experience with our products.

Site Leadership (All Functions)

  • Culture & Engagement: Act as the steward of site culture - promoting inclusion, belonging, and alignment to Rapid7’s values. Partner with People Strategy and key local staff to design and run local engagement initiatives (all-hands, celebrations, recognition moments). Keep a pulse on site sentiment and surface risks and opportunities to global leadership.

  • Communication & Alignment: Be the local voice of company strategy, ensuring global messages land with clarity and relevance. Represent site perspectives back to global leadership to influence decision-making. Run site-wide forums (e.g., town halls, Q&As) and maintain open channels for feedback.

  • Talent & Development Support: Champion local talent visibility so employees have equitable access to opportunities and recognition. Partner with managers and People Strategy to identify development needs, support career growth, and integrate new hires into site culture.

  • Operational Health: Own the “heartbeat” of the site, monitoring key health indicators (engagement, attrition, facilities, hybrid work effectiveness). Coordinate with Workplace, Facilities, and IT to ensure the environment is safe, effective, and energising.

  • Community & External Presence: Represent Rapid7 in the local market, serving as a visible ambassador to the tech community, universities, and civic partners. Partner with Talent Acquisition and Marketing to host and participate in events that build brand and attract talent.

  • Connector Role: Serve as the connective tissue between local employees, global leadership, and business functions - pulling insights up and cascading strategy down. Balance local needs with global consistency, helping employees feel both rooted in the site and integral to Rapid7’s global mission.

  • Resilience & Adaptability: Hold the site steady through change, ensuring teams stay engaged, connected, and effective even during times of transition.

The skills and qualities you’ll bring include:

  • Engineering Leadership: 10+ years of engineering leadership experience at scale, with a proven ability to build, deliver, and operate complex enterprise-class software.
Technical Expertise: Proven track record to build, deliver, and run complex enterprise-class software at scale

  • Organisational Leadership: Experience growing and developing a diverse, distributed, thriving team of leaders, developers and engineers

  • Collaboration: Ability to engage closely with customers, and to influence cross-functional product management, support, strategy and other areas to ensure alignment on the priorities of the engineering team to promote customer success

  • Results Oriented: Proven history of leading and managing engineering teams to build and ship high quality products/platforms in fast-paced, continuous deployment environment

  • Strategic Orientation: Solid facility with following and synthesising strategic trends in your industry, and dynamically setting course as required to ensure that engineering enables the company to respond to those trends and the resulting customer needs

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Experience partnering across multiple business functions to enable site success, not only within engineering

  • Culture Stewardship: Ability to foster inclusion, belonging, and community while keeping a pulse on the site’s energy and health

  • Connector & Influencer: Strong communicator who can represent site perspectives to global leadership and land global priorities locally with clarity

  • External Ambassador: Comfortable engaging with the external community to build Rapid7’s local reputation and talent pipeline

  • Strategic Orientation & Resilience: Ability to anticipate trends, adapt to change, and ensure the site thrives through periods of growth and transformation

  • Core Value Embodiment: Embody our core values to foster a culture of excellence that drives meaningful impact and collective success
