About the Team
You will be joining a highly-technical, future-thinking Information Technology organization responsible for the internal systems that make the Rapid7 engine run. The Systems Engineering team is situated inside Infrastructure & Operations and handles systems related to endpoint and server control, public cloud computing, and datacenter operations. You will be leveraging leading edge technology to generate value for the entire organization. About the Role
We are looking for an experienced systems engineer to be part of a team charged with enhancing our computing stack through a number of innovative projects. Beyond day-to-day operations, this role will lead projects like: implementing and maintaining configuration management of our virtualized Windows servers at scale, improving and securing the end user computing experience on Windows 10 & 11, and enhancing the security of our cloud computing platforms by leveraging Rapid7’s world-class security tools.

In this role, you will:

• Engineer the lifecycle from creation to retirement of servers and endpoints, with deep experience in Microsoft Operating systems like Windows Server and Windows Desktop

• Partner with identity access management teams to build, configure and remove/deprecate AD forests in labs and general infrastructure

• Deploy modern configuration management and automation tools like Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform to manage our environment and systems at scale consistently

• Own and Operate Cloud Computing Platforms like GCP and Azure, delivering them as a secure and scalable platform for our users’ to build on

• Remotely assist in Datacenter operations like procuring, configuring, and monitoring blade servers, storage, and power equipment

• Understand and make well-reasoned design decisions and tradeoffs in your areas of expertise

• Take an active role in the design and planning of stakeholder needs

• Partner with internal teams throughout the business such as Information Security, Engineering, Marketing, and others

• Develop a deep understanding of Rapid7’s product suite,  in order to secure our systems internally

The skills you’ll bring include:

• 4+ years experience with IT Engineering

• 3+ years coordinating projects that involve vendors, stakeholders, and end users

• 3+ years Expertise in Windows OS (Server and Endpoint) and Active Directory

• Expertise in configuration management via tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform

• Expertise in public cloud computing platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure

• A working knowledge of datacenter hardware like Cisco UCS, Netapp, Xtremio

• A working knowledge of VMware vCenter and ESXi

• A passion for security, with an understanding of the importance of vulnerability management and secure design

• An automation-first mindset with the ability and desire to script in a language like Python, Ruby, Bash, and PowerShell

• Experience keeping and maintaining healthy code in a code repository like GitHub

• Excited by technology, curious and eager to learn, with the ability to mentor more junior members of the team

• Collaborative team player who has the ability to partner with others and drive toward solutions

• Solid communicator with excellent written and verbal communications skills both within the team and cross functionally
