Senior Legal Counsel

Rapid7’s legal practice is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel who will focus on the commercial side including drafting, negotiations and management of existing contractual relationships and will work on real projects that will help us grow and scale.

About the Team

The Commercial Legal Team at Rapid7 is charge of all Rapid7's legal contracts as it relates to our customers and vendors. The team works with Sales and Partner teams as well as Procurement. It is a group that is part of the greater legal team at Rapid7 which includes privacy and data protection, intellectual property, export law, corporate governance, litigation, international legal issues, employment laws, regulatory matters and compliance. 

About the Role

The Senior Legal Counsel will work closely with internal stakeholders (Go-To Customer) and all of our external stakeholders which are our customers and partners. The Senior Legal Counsel will be involved in working with sales, the partner teams, direct sales, renewals, and the procurement side. They will be working on software license agreements, non-disclosure agreements, services agreements, statements of work, contract questions, etc.

In this role, you will:

  • support a large organization’s commercial goals with day to day partnership in a high volume, high velocity setting;

  • Negotiate with customers (from smaller businesses to Fortune 500 enterprises who insist on their paper)manage the various legal relationships that exist primarily with the company’s customers, partners and vendors;

  • translate complex legal requirements and advice into plain English, day-to-day practical guidance for non-lawyer business stakeholders;

  • create and deliver trainings to global sales and other stakeholders on a regular and ad-hoc basis;

  • independently negotiate and manage the relationship lifecycle of large technology partnerships;

  • identify, lead and collaborate on a number of related projects; and

  • serve as a mentor to more junior team members and have an opportunity to grow in other legal areas.

The skills you’ll bring include:

  • admission to and in good standing with the Massachusetts bar (or equivalent with in house waiver/registration);

  • 5+ years of experience with commercial negotiations, preferably in the technology space; 

  • Experience negotiating with enterprise procurement

  • A strong work ethic balanced with a healthy sense of humor.
