Senior Network Engineer

About the Team

We are a high performing team responsible for the global network and network security infrastructure estate for Rapid7. Our mission is to create scalable, secure and integrated solutions for our internal customers.  This will include on-prem environments and also diverse Cloud environments.

About the Role
 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a major impact on the internal infrastructure of Rapid7. You will work as part of a small team and you will have responsibility for designing, maintaining and implementing all infrastructure network systems. 

In this role, you will:

• Be a great partner who will team up and support our savvy and quirky information security, IT, and other teams to build, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain network security systems 

• Enjoy building things. This gets you out of bed in the morning. You like to review, design, and build secure scalable networks, this is fun stuff

• Always ready to put your consulting hat on and will research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for network systems tasks

• Might not love this work, or maybe you do,  but you are highly capable and dependable when managing logistics with vendors, hardware ordering, project deadlines, and people

• Like seeing things in the Green, it gives you comfort to know the network is humming along as you perform daily monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all network security systems

• Have an insatiable curiosity & desire to challenge conventional approaches to solving problems

• Willingness to travel up to 50%

The skills you’ll bring include:

• Network/security certifications such as CCNA, CWNA, Network+, Security+, CCNP

• Experience designing and building virtual/cloud and on-premise corporate networks with routing, switching and security

• Experience configuring and maintaining network devices, such as next-gen firewalls and switches

• Knowledge of VPN technologies such as IPSEC, SSL and remote access

• Familiarity with GCP & AWS cloud network architectures and computing

• Familiarity with current and next-gen monitoring solutions

• Excellent time management and prioritization skills with a proven ability to plan, prioritize, and execute projects autonomously or in coordination with other teams

• Excellent ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences with a positive, collaborative, and enablement-focused attitude

Even better:

• Coding experience

• Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux system administration

• Experience with Identity Access Management (e.g., OKTA) implementation and integration best practices

• Experience implementing, administering, and using Rapid7 products (e.g. InsightVM/Nexpose, InsightIDR, InsightConnect, etc.)

• Experience with network vulnerability testing tools
