At Rapid7, the Senior Systems Administrator plays a key role in managing the organization’s global infrastructure by supporting identity platforms, SaaS applications, endpoints, and on-premises and cloud server environments.

The Systems Administration function is pivotal to maintaining a secure and scalable infrastructure. It involves owning the complete identity stack—from administering core IAM platforms like Entra ID, Okta, and Active Directory, to enforcing rigorous access governance and user lifecycle protocols across all enterprise SaaS tools. Furthermore, we ensure our multi-cloud presence (AWS, GCP, Azure) is future-proofed, using automation and IaC to guarantee security and efficiency at any scale.

About the Team

The Global Infrastructure & Operations team is responsible for managing the organization’s endpoints, identity platforms, SaaS applications, and both on-premises and cloud server environments. The team ensures secure, reliable, and scalable operations across devices, authentication systems, core business applications, and global infrastructure to support the company’s growth and daily business needs.

About the Role

The Senior Systems Administrator oversees identity, SaaS, and cloud infrastructure by managing IAM platforms and ensuring secure provisioning, de-provisioning, and access control across Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and other SaaS applications. This role administers and optimizes our cloud environments, maintains Windows and Linux systems, and leverages automation and IaC tools for scalable operations.

  • Expertly administer and integrate core IAM platforms (Entra ID, Okta, Active Directory) to manage the full user lifecycle, enforcing SSO/MFA and access control across all critical SaaS applications.

  • Optimize and manage robust multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), leveraging IaC (Terraform, Puppet) and automation for scalable deployment and consistent configuration of Windows and Linux systems.

  • Serve as the final escalation point for L3 technical issues, leading urgent investigation, triage, and resolution of critical infrastructure outages while ensuring SLA adherence and driving comprehensive post-mortem analysis.

The skills and qualities you’ll bring include:

  • Proven experience managing Google Workspace, Okta, and Slack at scale

  • Strong understanding of IAM principles, SSO, and MFA implementation.

  • Background in server administration (Windows/Linux) and multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).

  • Strong scripting/automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).

  • Certification

    • Google Cloud Professional Engineer / Workspace Admin

    • Okta Certified Administrator

    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Takes ownership of outcomes, follows through on commitments, and consistently delivers high-quality work.

  • Evaluates information, balances risks, and makes clear, timely, and well-reasoned decisions.

  • Partner effectively with teams across the organization to drive alignment, shared goals, and successful outcomes.

  • Communicates clearly and proactively, tailoring messages to the audience and ensuring transparency and understanding.

  • Translates strategy into actionable steps, prioritizes effectively, and drives meaningful progress toward long-term goals.

  • Core Value Embodiment: Embody our core values to foster a culture of excellence that drives meaningful impact and collective success.
