We’re looking for a Software Engineer in Test II who is passionate about making an impact and helping build the next big thing in cybersecurity. 

In this position, you will be joining a team of talented engineers who are passionate about establishing quality and test automation infrastructure and standards for Rapid7.  We need a team player with a strong QA background in both manual and automated testing to ensure high quality delivery of software solutions.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer II in Test you will be part of our growing Quality Engineering team who are at the forefront of ensuring the quality of our products and a shift left testing philosophy. Specifically, your focus will be to:

• Build, maintain, and release reliable automated test frameworks and tools, ensuring high quality and consistency across our services by following best practices and standards.

• Participate in the design and planning of upcoming features — our Test Engineers are first-class stakeholders in shaping quality throughout the development process.

• Partner closely with internal teams such as UX, Product Management, and Engineering to ensure we deeply understand customer needs and translate them into effective test strategies.

• Develop a strong understanding of our products and systems in order to proactively identify risks, improve test coverage, and best support our customers.

• Work with practice-specific technologies and modern testing approaches (e.g., automated UI/API testing, performance testing, CI/CD integration) to continually raise the bar for quality.

The skills and qualities you’ll bring include: 

• A minimum of 2-3 years experience in QA role:

• Developed using e.g. Python, JAVA, JavaScript

• Experience with automation frameworks e.g. RobotFramework, Cucumber, NUnit, Playwright or Selenium

• CI/CD e.g. Jenkins

• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, OpenStack and VMware.

• Understanding of SQL and other RDB languages.

• Collaborative team player who has the ability to partner with others and work towards solutions

• Strong creative problem solving skills

• Solid communicator with excellent written and verbal communications skills both within the team and cross functionally

• Brings a customer-first mindset to engineering, and integrates customer impact into everyday decision making
