About the Program
Our placement interns are our future engineers and are treated as valued members of the team from day one. In addition to a competitive salary, benefits, and generous holiday allowance, you will have frequent 1:1 meetings with your manager and a dedicated team mentor throughout your placement. The program also provides full access to internal training resources (Udemy, Pluralsight) and opportunities for intimate conversations with key business leaders. You'll build a global network with other interns and continuously refine your career goals with guidance from our emerging talent team. Although Rapid7 has a hybrid working model, we highly recommend interns work from the office frequently to support their development and networking.
About the Role
Rapid7 is seeking curious, resourceful, and motivated software engineering placement interns to support our product teams. As a software engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology to develop solutions to some of our customer’s most challenging problems.
In this role, you will:
Apply your skills and education to a real-world work environment
Collaborate with a team of engineers on a variety of current projects
Contribute your ideas on how to continuously improve our products & solutions
Build, deploy and maintain high quality code for customer-facing projects
Deliver innovative product features to the Rapid7 production system
The skills and qualities you’ll bring include:
Knowledge of core computer science and software engineering concepts
Understanding of SDLC including code review, testing, and planning processes
Ability to write code, and solve basic problems
Experience with object-oriented languages, GitHub and relational/non-relational databases is beneficial, but not essential
Ability to articulate messages in an understandable manner, demonstrates active listening skills, shows curiosity and asks questions
Proven track record of collaborating effectively with teammates and partners across an organization
Able to take direction and manage prioritisation of work, and have a dynamic sense of ownership and responsibility for the quality of the software you create
*Qualified candidates should be currently studying Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, displaying a strong academic record & eligible for a 12-month placement opportunity between Jun 2026 - May 2027. You must be resident of Northern Ireland, and have the legal right to work in the UK.
