Staff Product Designer – AI
We are leading a major platform transformation in the cybersecurity space—modernizing how security professionals interact with data, systems, and intelligent decision-making tools. We’re building the next generation of AI-driven, scalable, and user-centered capabilities that empower teams to detect, understand, defend, and respond to threats more effectively.
To achieve this, we’re looking for a Staff Product Designer who thrives in complex systems, values research and data, and is passionate about shaping AI-powered experiences that protect real people and infrastructure.
About the Team
Our Product Design and UX team is at the forefront of reimagining how users experience Rapid7’s cybersecurity platform. This group is leading a large-scale transformation through modular, data-driven design and AI-infused workflows that scale across complex user journeys.
We operate with an AI and platform-first mindset, embedding intelligence and automation directly into core experiences to make every interaction smarter and faster. The team spans Product Design, UX Research, Design Systems, and Content, working collaboratively to bring clarity and consistency to how security professionals work, investigate, and respond to threats.
About the Role
As a Staff Product Designer, you will drive the transformation of how users engage with our cybersecurity platform—from foundational architecture to end-user workflows. You’ll design not just screens, but flexible, intelligent frameworks rooted in object-oriented thinking and informed by data relationships. Your work will actively shape the evolution of our design system and help define how AI and automation come to life across the platform.
You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, architects, and researchers to deeply understand user needs, identify where AI and automation can accelerate outcomes, and validate design decisions through experimentation, metrics, and real-world usage.
You’ll report directly to the Senior Manager, Product Design, and will play a key role in bringing Rapid7’s vision of an intelligent, adaptive platform experience to life.
In This Role, You Will
Lead the design of scalable, modular, and AI-enhanced product experiences, ensuring deep alignment with platform architecture and optimization of critical cybersecurity workflows.
Integrate intelligent automation and generative AI into user journeys to increase efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making speed.
Translate complex, technical data into clear, intuitive interfaces that enable investigation, analysis, and response.
Collaborate closely with research to formulate and apply insights, ensuring design decisions are informed by both qualitative and quantitative data.
Apply object-oriented UX principles to design reusable components and workflows tied to key platform entities.
Extend and evolve our design system to support cross-product consistency, accessibility, and intelligent adaptability.
Use customer insights, behavioral analytics, and AI-powered metrics to drive prioritization and measure design impact.
Partner with engineering to ensure thoughtful, consistent, and scalable implementation of AI-enabled features.
Proactively identify opportunities for innovation at the intersection of AI, automation, and user experience, helping define the future of security design.
The Skills and Qualities You’ll Bring Include
8+ years of experience in product or UX design, ideally in complex enterprise, data-driven, or platform environments.
Proven ability to design for AI-assisted workflows, intelligent interfaces, or automation-driven experiences.
Experience working closely with machine learning, data science, or platform engineering teams.
Strong collaboration skills with product, engineering, and research partners to align design with business and user goals.
Expertise in systems thinking, interaction design, and data-connected workflows.
Proficiency in Figma and deep experience with design systems.
Familiarity with or interest in object-oriented UX, information architecture, and data modeling.
Ability to define and track success metrics for design outcomes.
Curiosity about AI ethics, model transparency, and responsible automation in user experience.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
Passion for cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and designing for complex problem spaces.
Nice to Have
Experience designing for cybersecurity, data platforms, or enterprise-scale systems.
Understanding of AI technologies, such as LLMs, generative UX, or adaptive design systems.
Familiarity with analytics, experimentation frameworks, or data visualization.
Experience contributing to platform transformation or modernization initiatives.
Background in AI product design, intelligent automation, or cognitive UX.
We know that the best ideas and solutions come from multi-dimensional teams. That’s because these teams reflect a variety of backgrounds and professional experiences. If you are excited about this role and feel your experience can make an impact, please don’t be shy—apply today.
