About the Team

As the VP of Product Marketing at Rapid7, you will be a key member of our marketing leadership team responsible for planning, creating and implementing the overall product marketing strategy.  Rapid7 provides an unparalleled set of cybersecurity capabilities to help our customers as they mature their security programs.  The VP of Product Marketing will partner closely with product teams and the marketing organization to bring the customer and marketing insights to bear to deliver a singular customer experience for customers across our product and services capabilities. 

About the Role

The VP of Product Marketing will lead and develop a team of talented product marketers that span our product and services portfolio, help drive our product and go-to-market strategy, and develop the key themes and stories that will help our customers understand the value that our products deliver.  You will take these themes and work across marketing to develop the campaigns and associated assets that will help our customers become aware, get educated, and acquire our products.  You will think about not only how we acquire customers, but how we can guide our customers to value and adoption across our capabilities.  You will be a close partner to our sales and customer success teams to develop the plays and supporting materials, so they can best guide our customers through our buyer and customer journey.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop the product marketing function at Rapid7 and drive collaboration with other marketing functions such as customer experience, commercialization and monetization, customer lifecycle marketing, growth marketing, corporate marketing, marketing operations and digital strategy.

  • Work closely with the Rapid7 product organizations to provide market insights and customer requirements, usage and buying behavior, and insights into the partner ecosystem to help identify market opportunities and drive product strategy for Rapid7’s products.

  • Drive the shift to a platform-oriented go-to-market strategy which will include the development of the Rapid7 value proposition and key themes to be leveraged across marketing efforts.

  • Educate the market about Rapid7’s value by supporting the team to develop assets such as demos, white papers, workshops, presentations and technical blogs, and driving views of that content.

  • Provide insights to sales, product management, marketing teams and the partner channel about the competitive landscape and competitor offerings.

  • Provide input into product roadmap, strategy, and pricing based on market and customer research findings, industry analyst interactions and competitive findings.

  • Define PMM team's strategy, budget, hiring and OKR's to build and measure team results.

  • Develop and own product positioning, messaging and value propositions that differentiate Rapid7 solutions in the marketplace.

  • Work with the marketing creative and digital teams to create engaging audience-specific content, including case studies, solution briefs, web content, presentations, data sheets, whitepapers and sales playbooks that can be utilized globally.

The skills you’ll bring include:

  • 10+ years of experience leading product marketing teams to drive successful development, launch and adoption of SaaS solutions.

  • Experienced people leader who has built, developed and retained high-performing teams.

  • Track record of driving and measuring growth of a multi-product portfolio.

  • Experience leading and collaborating in cross-functional teams; ability to manage up, down and across the organization to get desired outcomes.

  • A deep understanding of customer cybersecurity challenges across traditional and modern infrastructure and applications.  

  • Experience with security operations and threat management products and/or services and their real-world application within a security program

  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills to explain and translate complex technology concepts into simple and intuitive communications.

  • Uses data to measure results and inform decision-making and strategy development

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, including international travel (when safe to do so!)

  • BA or BS Required

  • MBA preferred; experience and knowledge of core business functions and tools required
