Manager of Analytics - Business Intelligence 


Rapid7 is looking for a Manager of Analytics to manage, develop and guide a team of analysts and analytics engineers in, working with internal stakeholders to advance the maturity of BI products across the enterprise. You’ll help us design, implement, and scale solutions to deliver critical insights  that advance our competitive position in the market.  You’ll collaborate across the organization to improve the accessibility, quality, and business-relevance of our BI products  while aligning to our strategic goals and core priorities.  You’ll work to understand our business processes, underlying problems we’re trying to solve, and data elements best-suited to address them.

About the Team


The Rapid7 Business Intelligence Team serves as the company’s analytic center of excellence, translating data into actionable insights for senior leadership and business partners, developing and refining new analyses in response to business needs, and bringing expertise on emerging trends in data analytics. The team core tenets focus around driving analytic insight, data modeling, data literacy and advanced analytics.

About the Role


The ideal candidate has not only hands-on experience building and scaling large-scale data sets and end-user BI products, but also demonstrated examples of translating data analyses into insights that drive transformational business outcomes. You’ll build and enable a team of analysts and analytics engineers to bring consistent and reliable sources of truth and self-service analytics solutions to over 3000 employees. You will partner with business stakeholders to evaluate BI product requirements, and design / implement solutions that provide actionable insights on financial performance, sales operational performance, customer engagement & retention, product usage and other related topics. We’re looking for a leader who thinks strategically, thrives on data, works well through ambiguity, and is willing to dive into the details to execute.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and mentor a team to design, implement, and scale and maintain analytical models and reporting solutions

  • Lead BI product design and requirements gathering by collaborating with business partners to define business processes, data models, and operational use-cases for data consumers recommendations that improve operations & enhance business decision making

  • Effectively manage team capacity by defining and prioritizing objectives and dependencies to efficiently deliver and scale BI products

  • Build partnerships, define accountability, and lead activities to deliver and continuously improve BI products

  • Develops tools, testing, and processes to support improved data quality and governance at scale 

  • Support testing, training, and development of new technical practices

  • Develop and manage workflows to manage team productivity and prioritization process

  • Skilled at clearly communicating results and direction to a diverse audience of technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Own communication path on timelines, BI product deliver, and enablement and manage expectations with internal stakeholders

  • Ad-hoc analysis as required to aid management decision making and business planning

The skills you’ll bring include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or related field

  • 8+ years working in business intelligence, data engineering, or analytics with a track record of delivering impactful BI tools and insights

  • Strong experience with SQL, ETL/ELT, data modeling, and using object-oriented programming (e.g. Python, R) to transform and analyze 

  • Proven track record in transforming large amounts of complex data into insights by leading the end-to-end creation of intuitive data products

  • Solid understanding of data structures and transformations, experience in data quality processes

  • Prior experience with Salesforce.com, ERP, CRM & HCM technologies and data from disparate systems 

  • Advanced analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Team spirit, excellent interpersonal skills, and a customer service orientation

  • Track record of managing and improving complex processes, managing through ambiguity and very strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills; experience in communicating with senior stakeholders in an open, direct and professional fashion

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
