Manager, Legal - Commercial
Rapid7’s legal team is looking for a Manager, Legal - Commercial whose focus will be all things commercial including drafting, negotiations and management of existing contractual relationships and will work on real projects that will help us grow and scale. The Manager, Legal - Commercial will also lead more junior members of the team.
About the Team
The Legal Team at Rapid7 is in charge of contract practices, privacy and data protection, intellectual property, export law, corporate governance, litigation, international legal issues, employment laws, regulatory matters and compliance.
About the Role
The Manager, Legal - Commercial will work closely with internal stakeholders (Go-To Customer) and all of our external stakeholders, namely our customers, partners and suppliers. The Manager, Legal - Commercial will be involved in working with sales, the channel/partner teams, direct sales, customer success/renewals, and the procurement team. They will be working on software license agreements, non-disclosure agreements, services agreements, statements of work, contract questions, etc.

In this role, you will:
Support a large organization’s commercial goals with day to day partnership in a high volume, high velocity setting;
Directly manage 3 Boston-based Commercial counsel
Negotiate with customers (from mid-market & SMB to Fortune 500 enterprises) and manage the various legal relationships that exist primarily with the company’s customers, partners and vendors
Translate complex legal requirements and advice into plain English, day-to-day practical guidance for non-lawyer business stakeholders including sales leadership
Create and deliver trainings to global sales and other stakeholders on a regular and ad-hoc basis
Independently negotiate and manage the relationship lifecycle of large technology partnerships
Identify, lead and collaborate on a number of related projects such as contract updates, leading legal review in cross-functional collaborations, and improving internal processes
The skills you’ll bring include:
Admission to and in good standing with the Massachusetts bar (or equivalent with in house waiver/registration)
7+ years of experience with commercial negotiations, including saas and services agreements
2+ years of leadership experience
Experience negotiating with enterprise customers; and
A strong work ethic with a healthy sense of humor.
