Rapid7 is looking for an experienced and passionate leader in Marketing Automation to join our Marketing Operations team, focusing on MarTech strategy, campaign automation, platform optimization, integrations and technical infrastructure. This role is ideal for a technically skilled (Marketo certified), data-driven Marketing Operations evangelist with a passion for innovation—including delving into how AI can reduce friction in our marketing workflows.

In this position, you will enable our Marketing team to deliver against our strategic imperatives.  You will help ensure Marketing Automation is a driver of Growth through automation, efficiency personalization and optimization.  The Marketing Automation Manager is a strategic leader responsible for our MarTech, providing the thought leadership required to transform how we use marketing insights and to foster a data driven culture across Marketing.  

This role requires a natural collaborator to partner effectively, cross functionally, will have the hands-on technical skills as well as understanding the technical impact of business decisions.  You will also lead a team of enthusiastic analysts on this mission.

You'll play a pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency, scalability, and intelligence of our marketing programs, owning the automation systems that power our lead lifecycle, nurture programs, attribution, and personalization.   You will be successful when Marketing Automation is a recognized trusted partner and engine of growth for Marketing. 

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Automation & Campaign Management

  • Design, implement, and optimize complex, multi-touch campaigns and nurtures in Marketo

  • Collaborate with demand generation, product marketing, and sales teams to build and execute high-performing campaign workflows

  • Develop scalable campaign frameworks, dynamic content, and segmentation strategies based on behavioral and firmographic data.

MarTech Strategy & Technical Infrastructure

  • Own and maintain the marketing automation platform (Marketo) and its integrations with CRM (Salesforce), data enrichment tools, attribution platform, and other technical integrations

  • Work closely with IT and data teams to ensure platform stability, data governance, and security compliance.

  • Act as the strategic lead and administrator for our marketing automation platform (Marketo) and connected technologies, ensuring platforms are optimised, documented, and aligned with business needs.

  • Evaluate and implement new MarTech tools driven by MarTech strategy

  • Own the development and continuous improvement of scalable marketing automation programmes — including lead nurturing, scoring, segmentation, and lifecycle initiatives — to improve engagement and conversion.

  • Translate technical concepts and reports to simple narratives enabling quick, informed leadership decisioning. 

  • Partner with Exec level stakeholders to ensure measurement needs are well understood and are fit for purpose 

  • Develop a compelling vision for a Marketing Automation team by painting a compelling picture of the future, including the art of the possible, connecting it to business goals and demonstrating the path to realization.

  • Lead the team through coaching and bringing people with you.

  • Collaborate and influence cross functionally with IT, Data Engineering, Sales Operations, Revenue Operations and ensure Marketing is plugged in and influencing enterprise level Business Insights stakeholders.

AI & Agentic Automation

  • Drive the integration of Agentic AI solutions into marketing workflows—e.g., intelligent lead scoring, AI-powered personalization, automated content generation, and smart campaign optimization

  • Partner with AI/ML teams or vendors to develop and test agentic workflows in marketing operations

  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in AI/ML to identify opportunities for innovation in automation and customer engagement.
     

Operational Infrastructure

  • Design, document, and optimise scalable marketing processes

  • Support campaign execution and performance tracking across both direct and partner-led initiatives.

  • Ensure marketing systems and workflows enable efficient collaboration between teams, and support consistent execution across markets, channels, and programs.

  • Maintain data integrity, standardisation, and compliance across all marketing platforms, ensuring smooth handoffs between marketing, sales, and partner functions.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all marketing operations comply with data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA), including consent capture, data storage, and usage practices.

  • Define and enforce governance standards for data hygiene, campaign naming, tagging, and system usage across the marketing tech stack.

  • Manage user access, roles, and permissions in marketing platforms to maintain security and operational control.

  • Partner with Legal, IT, and RevOps to monitor compliance risks and support audits, documentation, and vendor due diligence.

Campaign management

  • Serve as the process owner for campaign execution across email, landing pages, and paid media, supporting Growth, Lifecycle, EMEA and Demand Marketing teams.

  • Scope campaign requirements, assess complexity, and lead capacity planning to ensure smooth and timely execution.

  • Consult on best practices in Marketo, with a focus on automation, scalability, and operational design.

  • Design and execute complex nurture and trigger campaigns, then standardize and scale them for broader use.

  • Partner with marketing stakeholders to streamline workflows, reduce friction, and optimize campaign delivery.

  • Identify operational risks early, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and implement sustainable solutions.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Growth, Regional and Demand Marketing, Engineering, and Design to align on priorities and execution strategy.

  

The ideal candidate 

The skills and qualities you’ll bring include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, business, analytics, or a related field;

  • 8+ years of experience in GTM strategy, planning, forecasting, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a Marketing Automation role.

  • Adobe Certified Expert (formerly Marketo Certified Expert)

  • Proven track record of developing and executing GTM plans

  • Proven track record of developing a data driven culture across a Marketing organization.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • Strong technical skills: HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript, API integrations, Workato and troubleshooting.

  • Familiarity with Python or low-code/no-code automation platforms (Zapier, Workato, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of sales, marketing, and customer success operations.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience in SaaS Marketing Measurement.

  • Experience implementing (or testing) Agentic AI tools in a marketing context 

  • Proficiency in Marketing, CRM and RevOps tools (e.g., Marketo, Salesforce, GA, 6Sense etc.).

  • Familiarity with advanced analytics and predictive modeling techniques.
